Standards Australia

We develop standards for Australia. We offer stakeholders from many sectors different ways to create or update standards. We also take part in international efforts to develop and adopt global standards. We assess and approve other organisations to develop Australian Standards®.

For each new standard, we bring together key parties and stakeholders to form a technical committee. These committees work together to create standards that benefit Australia, its businesses and its people. Stronger standards help Australia improve economic efficiency and gain international recognition. They also support local communities by creating a safer, more sustainable environment. 

We develop standards, but we do not enforce, regulate or certify compliance.
