The Centre for Intelligent Computing and Systems (CICS) at the University of Canberra is an interdisciplinary research centre focused on the development and application of human-centred artificial intelligence (AI) and intelligent systems. The centre conducts research across areas including machine learning, computer vision, multimodal analytics, open-source AI, immersive technologies, cyber-secure systems, the Internet of Things (IoT) and embodied AI.
CICS works with industry, government and community partners to co-design and implement AI solutions that enhance individual, organisational and societal outcomes. Its research supports the responsible adoption of AI across sectors including healthcare, education, smart communities and urban systems, with a focus on building resilient, inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystems.
The centre combines research expertise with advanced laboratories and collaborative research environments to translate emerging technologies into practical applications. CICS also provides AI training and opportunities for organisations to engage with researchers, postgraduate students and future graduates to support innovation and capability development.
